Instantly indexed multimedia databases of real world events

چکیده
We introduce a new paradigm for real-time conversion of a real world event into a rich multimedia database by processing data from multiple sensors observing the event. Real-time analysis of the sensor data, tightly coupled with domain knowledge, results in instant indexing of multimedia data at capture time. This yields semantic information to answer complex queries about the content and the ability to extract portions of data that correspond to complex actions performed in the real world. The power of such an instantly indexed multimedia database system, in content-based retrieval of multimedia data or in semantic analysis and visualization of the data, far exceeds that of systems that index multimedia data only after it is produced. We present LucentVision, an instantly indexed multimedia database system developed for the sport of tennis. This system analyzes video from multiple cameras in real time and captures the activity of the players and the ball in the form of motion trajectories. The system stores these trajectories in a database along with video, three-dimensional (3-D) models of the environment, scores, and other domain-specific information. LucentVision has been used to enhance live television and Internet broadcasts with game analysis and virtual replays in more than 250 international tennis matches.

Semantic Modeling and Knowledge Representation in Multimedia Databases
In this paper, we present the current state of the art in semantic data modeling of multimedia data. Semantic conceptualization can be performed at several levels of information granularity, leading to multilevel indexing and searching mechanisms. Various models at different levels of granularity are compared. At the finest level of granularity, multimedia data can be indexed based on image con...
متن کاملLucentVision: Converting Real World Events into Multimedia Experiences
With the widespread availability of multimedia sensors, increased computational power, and bandwidth, a new paradigm is emerging – converting real world events into multimedia experiences. We have developed a system called LucentVision based on this paradigm and have used the system to capture and broadcast more than 200 international tennis matches on worldwide television and the Internet. In ...
متن کاملMultimedia search and retrieval: new concepts, system implementation, and application
We first present new concepts applicable to the design of multimedia search and retrieval schemes in general, and to MPEG-7 in particular, the multimedia description standard in progress. Raw multimedia data is assumed to exist in the form of programs that typically consist of a combination of media types such as visual, audio, and text. We partition each such media stream into smaller units ba...
متن کاملFinding and Indexing of Eccentric Events in Video Emanates
We propose a methodology that first extracts features of video emanates and detects eccentric events in a crowded environment. Afterwards eccentric events are indexed for retrieval. The motivation of the framework is the discrimination of features which are independent from the application domains. Low-level as well as midlevel features are generic and independent of the type of abnormality. Hi...

Current Internet based multimedia modeling systems and languages lack visualization based upon integration of asynchronous events and deterministic synchronization and triggering based upon such integration. Modeling interactive and real world systems needs such in tegration. The paper introduces a modeling technique for reactive distributed multimedia system based on triggers, active events an...
